TTP #46: Dr. Serena Enke – Specializing in Bariatric Evaluations

Dr. Jeremy Sharp Podcast 4 Comments

I’ve known Serena for about 15 years now, and I was so excited to have her on the podcast to talk all about specializing in bariatric evaluations. When I caught up with Serena several months ago and learned that she was doing them in private practice, I knew she’d have a highly precise, research-informed system for doing these evals. Today, she shares that system with all of you so that you can dial in your bariatric evaluations and add them to your practice with confidence! Here are a few things we talk about:

  • Serena’s exact process for doing a bariatric eval from start to finish
  • Where she gets referrals for bariatric evaluations
  • The measures she uses during these evaluations
  • An alternative way to take insurance but get paid more than the usual contracted rate

  1. Hello. I am a licensed psychologist in Texas. I assume I could only test Texas clients, correct? Do you have any suggestions of agencies or entities that needed testing or assessment in Texas? Can these be done online?

      Hi Laura,

Thanks for reaching out and listening to the podcast! As far as I know, you can only practice in the state(s) where you’re licensed, though you can definitely check out the telehealth guidelines to learn more. I, unfortunately, do not know much about the Texas assessment needs, but there are many Texas psychologists in the Testing Psychologist Community on Facebook who could possibly help out!

  2. Hi Dr. Sharp,

Maybe I missed this in the podcast but is there anywhere to get specific training in these types of evaluations?

Unfortunately, I don’t know of any specific trainings on this topic. I think your best bet is to find someone who performs these evaluations and pursue consultation with them!
